Welcome to Dulwich Paragon's blog site and social network

First race of the season I was marshalling and so didn't race - thank god as there were over 80 riders that night
Race 2 washed out.

Race 3, I was there on time and done all the things I needed to do.
First few laps were fast as per usual, however I'm begining to think actually it's just that I'm not warmed up properly, and it takes a few laps for me to get up to temperature. However after a few laps I found myself at the back of the first group and we had split from the main field. Must have been a big group though, 20+ riders. The usual war of attrition continued as always and the field was wittled down slowly as I stayed near the back clinging on. At one point someone in front of me let the pack go and I hadn't realised until they had a good 10 metres which took a full lap just to pull the gap back. Anyway about halway I took a gel and within a few minutes I felt fully charged, maybe I should have one of these at the start instead. At some point around the 12 laps to go I though I saw a 3 or 4 riders take the hairpin in front of our group, I thought that we could be coming up to some more lapped riders but they looked pretty fast guys, however I didn't really think much of it. By this time I was back in the thick of the main pack and I had either forgot about these riders or thought we had caught them, as I couldn't see them anywhere on the circuit. With the last few laps remaining I began to move up the pack and position myself nearer the front for the final ascent and sprint. The siren went and one guy shot off the front, I didn't go after him but the pack picked up the pace and I got stuck behind some doofus who seemed to prempt my every move, finally I got past him for him to burn back past on the hill along with a few others, by this time I was about 6 back, but as per usual they all started to die at the top of the climb and I kept seated and ground it out, rounding the last corner 4 back and eventually coming in second. What a fantastic result! Well it was until I asked if there was a break - yes a break of 4, still meaning I came in 6th though. Not bad for my first CP crit of the season.

Off on a training holiday next week so hopefully come back in a couple of weeks supercharged!

HR Max 182 (99%)
HR Av 162 (88%)
No max speed recorded
Max Cad 129
Av Cad 95 (very good for me)

Well done Scott!
If I have a gel before the start of Palace I usually get a stitch on lap 10 or therabouts... ;(
Perhaps DP spectators should be shouting things like 'there's four away! They got 20 seconds!' - stuff like that is useful to hear...
And you got a higheer HR than HogHill.
