I think safety pins are better. The tape will stay on the number making storing the numbers a nuisance as they'll stick together leaving adhesive everywhere. It only really works if you're going to bin the numbers after every use. I don't think we'll be seeing it being used in the races that we do but maybe for sportives where the numbers aren't reused. Which I guess is what this guy is doing with number 562.

I wonder how the carbon footprint compares to using safety pins...
